Here we go again!
You know, this issue is not really news, most these things are old, news isn't hot anymore when they are old. But, finding time to even put this together was a real challenge with the amount of things going on at the moment. Enjoy!
Google improved - again!
Google will not stop their world domination .. they single handedly changed the world of internet search and another change to their search interface came in last week.. sexy buttons and an input field with a tiny drop-shadow .. also, did you notice the 3D gradient logo ..?
If I learned anything from the work I have been doing, the designers got nothing to worry about.. I was wrong afterll .. if you apply a gradient and put a drop-shadow .. you're on a winning streak..!!
Future of board games
There is nothing to say, I can't wait for the future .. I mean present .. oh wait ..
I'm confused, this is too whack to comprehend..

Safe searches with un-safe results
Google can be funny at times.. I'm sure I read about a game where you enter a unsuspecting word to Google and see how many 'un-safe' results it produced. This is particularly evident in searching double-edged-uber-social words .. I didn't imagine "Scrabble" to be one of them.

Cradle to code
It's facinating to see the young talent out there in the web industry. I knew few floating around here and there, but I did not take them seriously .. I mean, what happened to school and working at maccas and delivering papers?
This is the real deal though, IT is an industry where it does not matter who's sitting on the otherside of the screen. As long as you have skype and you produce some good work .. the output is what matters.

Sure, they may not have the life experience someone can obtain being in IT for 10 years, but, they'll get their a lot sooner than we did. I came across this website somehow and I freaked out when I saw the 'about' page. Great to see some young guns collaborating to deliver great results — yes, I did feel a lot older and smaller at the same time.
I say, good on them! I remeber now what inspired me to write the first Nerd News, it was a (then) 12 year old programmer .. that's a growing trend now.
Tweet the wrong thing and thou shalt be fired..!!
Yes, tweeting is indeed a risky task .. it is one thing to think about wrong things inside your head, it's another to think out loud .. and if you are to share it with the world and piss off your boss(es) .. chances are, you'll get fired.

The latest "twit" to get fired in Australia was 'Catherine Deveny' who apparently tweeted bad things while watching TV. I must admit, social media is powerful .. powerful enough to get you fired.
As a recent convert to Twitter — Yes, I did say I would never use twitter — this somewhat concerns me. However, I think I'm on the right track with twitter..
- I follow no one
- I report anyone who tries to follow me
So my tweets are only for myself .. it's like talking to yourself, but more creepier!
Apple, iPad, Flash
Apple released the iPad, it is yet to be released in Australia, however, it is going to be a hit with the gadget guys and gals (maybe mums and dads too).
Apple also released version 4 of the iPhone platform, now brings multitasking to the mobile device.
Apple also lost a new iPhone device, which had a huge media follow-up .. now the tale of the lost iphone is somewhat a legend that nerds will tell their grand-child-nerdlings in the future.
Apple had to "let go" of Gary Powell, the young software engineer who managed to leave the 'secret device' on a bar, after few drinks (and possibly smoking some rediculous thing).
Gary Powell was then offered a free flight by Lufthansa and entry to their beer garden - to drink even more!
Some eagle eyed readers noticed that this is only a one-way ticket and warned Gary — they reckon this to be an evil plan of Dr. Stevevil Jobs!
Meanwhile, Steve Jobs posted an open letter about Flash on his mobile devices and tried his best business strategic approach to tell us that Flash can run games and it would ruin the AppStore. The good thing is though, being a market leader Apple suddenly become a surrogate parent for HTML5 and CSS3.
That's all follks.
Have a great fortnight!
